Crown & Bridges

Crowns and Bridges

General Overview

Crowns and bridges are permanent devices that your dentist attaches to existing teeth or other dental work. They differ from dentures in that they can only be removed by a dentist. Crowns work by covering or encasing a broken tooth or implant. This helps to improve the look and position of teeth as well as making the broken tooth stronger. They are sometimes used over an implant to make it appear more like a regular tooth. Crowns are typically made of either ceramic or porcelain materials. The material is then tinted to complement the color of the natural teeth. In order to make a crown more durable, metal is often used in conjunction with porcelain. Crowns or bridges might be necessary to conceal an implant or damaged tooth, to shield or strengthen a fragile tooth, or to enhance previous work such as a filling or root canal. The size of the tooth is reduced to allow the crown to completely cover it and it is then permanently attached to the gum line. Bridges work in the same way as crowns except they are used for multiple teeth that are missing.

A Dental Art’s Approach

At A Dental Art, we work to help patients practice good overall oral hygiene to ensure the longevity of crowns and bridges. Thanks to advances in materials and technology, we can now perform this procedure in a shorter period of time and better match the look of your natural teeth, making your smile look flawless, even up close.

Client Benefits

Crowns and bridges provide a permanent solution to missing teeth and can greatly improve your appearance for a lifetime. A Dental Art can show you how, with proper care, they can last approximately 15 to 20 years.
